Bird Guano Cleaning ProjectsAbate Pest Management has trained teams of people to carry out guano cleaning and removal projects

Very often bird droppings can be found in hard to reach locations such as water towers, ledges, courtyards, disused lofts and buildings, machinery and around air conditioning units etc.

Bird faeces (guano) are very acidic and will start to attack substrates which can cause considerable damage to locations mentioned.

Birds cause tens of millions of pounds of damage every year to buildings of various structures and materials and can create a serious impact to a business if not attended to.

Nests and guano can block rain gutters resulting in drains overflowing during heavy rains, creating water damage to a property.

We are experts in the correct procedures of cleaning and disposal of such waste and we are licensed to dispose of it.  It is illegal to throw guano in wheelie bins.  It must go into skips which go to closed landfill for direct disposal.  We are highly trained and have a vast knowledge of all types of cleaning and clearing procedures along with all the various relevant proofing methods to prevent further problems from occurring.

Other reasons for waste disposal are to reduce the risks of any diseases being spread.  Droppings can build up to such an extent that skips are hired to dispose of waste, carcasses, etc. This is sent directly to landfill from the job site.  This is the safest and correct method of disposal.

During treatment, an anti-bacterial spray is used to restrict the spread of harmful pathogens with a final treatment being carried out on completion of the job.

The risks associated, should you try to clean guano yourself, could be very dangerous.  There are fungal diseases such as Cryptococcosis, Histoplasmosis, Histoplasma Capsulatum, Chlamydia Psittaci from Psittacosis which can create flu-like symptoms and sickness.

We use all the up-to-date anti-bacterial cleaning agents, the correct PPE and disposal methods to ensure areas are left in a clean and safe environment to allow the relevant bird-proofing measures which Abate can also offer to ensure no recurrence.

Guano Cleaning Plant Rooms

We undertake cleaning of any water tank/air con units/power rooms that have been inadvertently accessed by birds, especially pigeons. They normally access through a broken door or hatch, and find these rooms are great places to roost and nest – creating a lot of bird mess and guano in the process. Often the first time the damage is discovered, is when an engineer arrives on site to service the units, and if the guano build up is significant, for health & safety reasons they won’t be able to do their job.

We can clean these rooms – removing the built up bird mess and guano, dispose of it all using our waste carrier licence, spray liberal amounts of biocide to sterilise the area, leaving it safe and hygienic for any engineer to be able to service the equipment.
