As well as visiting garden bird feeders, Starlings are equally happy feeding on food spillages on farms and factory sites. They often gain access to buildings to nest and feed, often building their nests in holes in walls or under the eaves of buildings where nesting material can block guttering and downpipes.
Starlings are also prone to roost inside buildings where their droppings foul anything lying beneath. Because of their large numbers they can cause contamination of bulk food stuffs on farms and commercial food premises.
